What is news?

     News. we get it from all over the world. we know exactly everything there is to know about it. but do we know what news really is? is it something that we read or something that we hear? it could be something that we watch or that we get from our friends. what separates news from other forms of communication? well, i am going to find out for you.
     So lets start with answering our main question. what is news? Well at dictionary.com , news is defined as "a report of a recent event; intelligence; information". It is also defined as "a person, thing, or event considered as a choice subject for journalistic treatment; newsworthy material". So if news is information, then this most definitely must come from a variety of different places. this brings us to our next few questions. Is news something that we read or hear? Well that depends upon the lifestyle a person lives and the age group they are in. For instance, when it comes to reading and hearing news statistics show that 85% of teenagers and preteens ages 10-19 learn get allot of new from the internet, their smartphones, and social networks as well as online videos, video broadcasting and pod casting.when it comes to reading and hearing news, Meanwhile adults ages 30 and older prefer news the old fashioned way delivered at their doorstep on broadsheet newspaper or listening to int on the radio on their way to work. Both reading and hearing are ways news is portrayed and both ways are news. 
     But is news still news if we watch it or get it from our friends? Is it that different from other forms of communication? lets take a look at what the people have to say. I recently interviewed an anonymous resident of the wandering trails complex located in Miami Dade county Florida who stated, and i quote, that "Well news is news no matter where you get it from. I know that when something interesting happens the first place I learn it from is a friend of mine telling me about it. If I don't learn about news from a friend then my definite second choice would be on t.v." this resident mentions how they get news, as was defined earlier as information, from friends and family through word of mouth and she watches it on her television. there is no doubt that news is news if it comes from friends or from what we see. because news is information that we receive. and definitely it cannot be that different from many forms of communication because we all use the same methods that we get news by in our daily lives. So let me ask you that question again. What is news? news is the information that we receive on a constant basis by reading, hearing, seeing, learning, or communicating.

Assignment 1.02 American jouralisim

Today i am going to talk about American journalism. Like what would happen if there was no guaranteed freedom of the press? i mean the people up in New York would've been take by storm when hurricane Irene got there. And we never would've known about the earthquake in Haiti and the tsunami in Japan. Also i would't be able to have a blog without freedom of the press. also anyone who tried to print a newspaper would end up jut like the man who printed the first newspaper in america in 1690; he was arrested. Thankfully, the government realized their mistake because they must have come to the same conclusion as this one quoted from journalism.org, "The central purpose of journalism is to provide citizens with accurate and reliable information they need to function in a free society". But what makes freedom of the press possible? well you can thank the first amendment for that. oh and guess what? The bill of rights doesn't protect any other private business. Not doctors, nor lawyers, not politicians alike. only the press is protected. And how did we make newspapers back then? Well it wasn't easy i'll tell you that. To make the first newspapers one had to write down each publication and put it together by hand. that mean putting letters on paper by hand one by one. can you imagine how long it would have taken me to do make this blog post back then? Way too long! luckily today we have computers, the internet, and cellphones. Man if i didn't have  backspace key i don't know what i would do! journalism really has a huge influence on our daily lives. from telling us what to buy and how to dress, to showing us new ways to cook and the newest gadgets.American journalism is a great resource for all.

                  Man is that saying true! because right now, nothing is going right. i have so many assignments that i have to do at one time that y head is spinning in circles and i am smoking through my ears! i mean who knew home school was so hard! but then again, i am so up for the challenge! i mean iam already loosing it and i just started. hopefully i can get the hang of this before it gets too out of hand! luckily i have flag football practice today! yay! at least i can unwind there. but i wish i could focus better at practice too. i guess i just need to work harder at it until i get better. well, gotta go!
